Cheryl Medow

Raised in Los Angeles, Cheryl Medow’s background in the arts is diverse, but interconnected.  She studied ceramics at the famed Chouinard Art Institute and received a BA in Art from UCLA, concentrating on life drawing with charcoal and pastels.  She continued her art education exploring printmaking at Santa Monica City College and Hand Graphics in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The dawn of the digital age piqued Cheryl’s interest in photography.  With a wealth of ways to devise new imagery, she began layering her photographs and weaving in other visual elements to create aesthetic narratives.  To give these pieces expression, she has also studied digital printmaking with John Paul Caponigro and Master Printer, Mac Holbert.

Cheryl has received the  NANPA (North American Nature Photography Association) Juror’s Choice Award, won Best Of Show at the Topanga Gallery and a top award at the Brand Library Juried Show in 2010.  In 2012, Medow received an Honorable Mention in the Texas Photographic Society TPS21.  Medow has been published in Best of Photography 2011 Photographer’s Forum,  100 Artists of the West Coast II, NANPA’s annual publication Expressions and Nash Editions: Photography and the Art of Digital Printing.  Cheryl has shown her work at the G2 Gallery and TAG Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, California.
