Sicily, a small village on the slopes of Etna. San’Alfio’s celebrations take place in May. Preparations are well underway: the village is decorated with illuminations, fireworks are ready, musical instruments are cleaned and polished and. much more is done. Finally the awaited days are here! People begin to gather, the bells announce the start of the celebrations and the fireworks confirm it. The Fercolo is carried in triumph along the streets of the village and this is the moment for the devotees to express their hopes and requests supported by their faith. The sound of music accompanies these days. A mixture of mysticism and traditions that are part of the Sicilians’ culture.
