When watching The Great Migration in the Maasai Mara, Kenya, one gets the sense that at this stage in their journey, the wildebeest are in perpetual motion. Rarely resting and only occasionally stopping to scan their surroundings, they are constantly on the move. Calmly eating as they walk (walking as they eat?), or chaotically stampeding across the Mara River, the herds often give the impression of one large organism that simply never stops. It was with this in mind that I decided to move away from trying to capture singular moments of the migration, and try instead to capture the motion of the migration, in hopes of better visually communicating the utterly awesome spectacle of this natural wonder of the world.
