„Superheroize Me“ is a photo essay of so-called Real Life Superheroes in San Diego. The phenomenon of „Real Life Superheroes“ can mainly be found in the United States, but also in other parts in the world. In real life, they are security guards, in the navy, social workers, nurses or still going to school, but every now and then, some more often than others, they turn into their superhero-selves - to do neighborhood watch, to organize a homeless outreach, to collect money for donations – or to simply raise awareness. They are not simply costume players, but do have a mission: To make their city a better place.
