This image was shot in Mesa Verde, Colorado. Standing within the ruins of an ancient civilization, I watched in awe as nature unleashed its power upon the desert, the distant snow-capped mountain dwarfed by its fury. These frequent storms ravage Mesa Verde, often leading to devastating forest fires, leaving miles of scorched, skeletal trees stretching across 50% of the national park in the last decade.
Danielle Kyberd emigrated from England in 2003 and has since earned a Bachelor of Science degree in photography, fine art and anthropology from Drexel University, Philadelphia PA. Upon graduating Danielle won the Dini Jones award for her portrait project on drug addiction. In 2014 she won an award for her portraits of the LGBT community and joined the New Century Artist's Gallery in NYC.
