Once a year in spring, a special sumo match dedicated to God is held in the Yasukuni Shrine. Last year's match was the first time I'd seen a sumo much directly. When I saw the match, I felt strange. The sumo wrestlers fought in silence and never smiled. They seemed to be not human beings, but rather sacraments. To highlight the mystique of sumo and exclude reality, I blackened the background and exclude everything except sumo wrestlers. To express the beauty of their movement, I took the pictures with a long shutter speed.
