How can we satisfy our longing for home when our environment is constantly changing? This image is one of a series that expresses the ‘once-was’ of home and how longing for home and a certain way of life is inseparable from memory. It was taken in my hometown of Footscray, a once working class Melbourne suburb with a largely migrant demographic, where gentrification and development has appropriated the old and is changing the heart of this urban landscape.
