The 3/4 mile hike from the parking lot through the forest to Second Beach was beautiful. When my wife, Mary Ellen, and I reached the beach, the wind was so fierce preventing me from shooting. The same thing occurred the second day but on the third day, the winds calmed and I captured this magnificent pink sunset. This photograph is a composite: I photographed the supermoon from the coast of Northern California using a Nikon D800e and an AF-S Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR and the beach and rocks being shot with a Linhof M679 technical camera and 70mm Rodendstock lens and Phase One IQ 180 digital back ISO 35.
