In this portrait series of the Ghanaian ensemble FRA!, I focus on the musicians’ hands—the place where rhythm is shaped before it reaches the audience. Their expressive gestures echo the pulse of Highlife Funk. To capture this intimacy, I constructed and operated a custom pop-up studio on-site during the African Beats Festival 2025. By placing the band in a minimal, context-free space, the series highlights the dignity, creative force, and physical language that define their music.
