I have been researching Thaipusam since 2008. I have visited temples, interviewed votaries and/or attended holiday functions in numerous countries in S.E. Asia, including Malaysia, Singapore, Laos and Myanmar. My research includes perspectives from people from different classes and ethnic backgrounds who have been influenced by different aspects of the diaspora, especially after British colonization of India.
