There is a village, in the northeast of Brazil, founded by the Swiss-German colonization, where 82.9% of its population is African descents. Helvetia I and Helvetia II where the two farms of João Martinho Flach, a Swiss from the Schaffhouse Canton who became a close friend and confidant of the Royale Princess Leopoldina. Both farms were part of Leopoldina-Franktal Colony, which (at the peak of its economical development) counted about two thousands african slaves and two hundreds Europeans colonizers besides being responsible for almost 90% of the Brazilian Coffee production in the early 1850. Since the empire vanished, the name of the farmhouses has remained and « brazilianized » itself to Helvécia. Domingos and Ednilson de Souza Krull are the grandsons of a German farmer (Walter Krull) and a African descent housewife (Bela Sofia).
