The past year, the fishermen of Lesbos have helped save hundreds of refugees and migrants, during their desperate journey from Turkey to Greece. 37-year-old fisherman, Stratis Valiamos and 45-Panayiotis Kallipolitis, were both living calm lives in their 100-people-village Skala Sykamias. They have never travelled outside their small island and until recently they had never met Muslims. Some, until recently even belonged to the far-right. But when Lesbos became the main gateway to Europe last year, they took part in rescue missions and saved the lives of dozens of refugees; something that changed their lives forever.
