This series of photographs documented a typical rural New Zealand scene – a small local church. The scale of the church and its picturesque setting within the rural landscape particularly intrigues me. In these photographs, I attempt to capture the experience of seeing between the landscape and the small church, a reminder of history and time.
Based in Taipei, Taiwan, Lucas K. Doolan is an emerging artist, award-wining photographer primarily known for his architectural photography. Lucas has taught photographic software workshops at the University of Auckland, Elam School of Fine Arts and is a full time professional architectural photographer. He is currently working on a black and white photography project entitled Concrete Landscapes, which aims to document everyday spaces and compositions within our urban environment. Published internationally in numerous magazines, Doolan’s work has also been collected by various private collectors in New Zealand and Taiwan.
