I make work as my great great grandfather, the Victorian inventor, eccentric and photographer Samuel Heracles Gascoigne-Simpson.This picture depicts the time in 1902 that Gascoigne-Simpson was invited to witness and record the spectacle of the first 'steaming' and maiden run of Lord Darlington's magnificent folly - a steam powered metal rhinoceros of substantial proportions.
