In my series of Colour Sculptures I have strived to combine the areas of art that I am most interested in - photography, painting, and sculpture. My intention with the still life images was to capture a state of fragile beauty, by using paint on various fruits in contrasting shapes and colours. By using the fluid medium of paint, the structures only exist momentarily and quickly change in shape and texture. The premise was to create a stark contrast between nature and artifice and accentuate the bold textures of the fruit. The smooth backdrop and evenly lit background make the subjects stand out, and draw the viewer’s attention entirely on the object.
