I create a series of images to represent the collective portraits of traditional oriental women, to probe into their roles under the constraints of ethics and rites in their culture environment. ?Madame White Snake? is a Chinese ancient legend, which depicts a brave woman (transformed by a thousand years old elderly white snake fairy) fell in love with a young man, was not willing to knuckle under her fate, and initiatively pursued and fought for her love. Unfortunately, she failed and was imprisoned under a pagoda by a Buddhist Master Fa Hai (who could represent "the masculine hegemony").
