Each Saturday morning, in an old converted apartment in South of Tel Aviv, dozens of Eritrean worshippers gather to pray, taking part in one of the world’s oldest Christian traditions. As their Jewish neighbors sleep in, the church comes alive with group baptisms and weddings. These photos are from one such communal baptism, during which families line up and wait with anticipation for their newest member to be purified and admitted into the Christian Orthodox church. After the ceremony, families typically gather in South Tel Aviv parks for group photos.
