Neptune, the Roman god of the sea, rises from the waters at Newhaven during Storm Eunice. The Met Office issued the first ever Red Weather Warning for the south coast of England as the storm approached. The peak of the storm and high tide coincided exactly at the port at 12:15pm. Winds reached a record 122mph at The Needles on the Isle of Wight.
