Gloria Crespo MacLennan The protagonists of these images seem as real as dreamed. As close to the sky as far from us. There is both drama and tenderness in their eyes and expressions. They are enigmatic depictions that remain us of our most primogenic instincts.

Liangshan, China, with an altitude of 2,000 to 3,000 meters, is surrounded in the cold, barren and isolated mountains. The Yi people have lived here for more than 2,000 years, generation after generation.  In recent years, with the help of the Chinese government, Yi people’s material life has begun to modernize, and at the same time, ancient traditional customs are also facing changes. Perhaps history has always come this way. What we think is valuable and worthless, will both be left behind or even forgotten, as we walked along the way.
