A portrait of Norman Scott (Josiffe) taken at the National Liberal Club, forty seven years after the then leader of the Liberal Party, Jeremy Thorpe, tried to have him murdered in order to cover up their homosexual relationship. The Thorpe affair, as it became known, was one of the biggest British political scandals of the late twentieth century, ending Jeremy Thorpe’s political career.
