Zabriskie Point is a part of the Amargosa Range located east of Death Valley in Death Valley National Park in California, United States, noted for its erosional landscape. The formation of Zabriskie Point is made up of over 5000 feet (1500 m) of mudstone, siltstone, and conglomerate. Chemical weathering and superheated flowing water cause the oxidation and other chemical reactions that produce the visual spray colors. These three hikers were cast in a distance deep in the mounds of clay, mudstone, siltstone, and conglomerate watching the sunset fall over the Panamint Mountain range.
