Adjacent to the Port of Dakar and surrounded by 80% of the city’s industry, Hann Bay is one of the most polluted areas of Senegal’s capital. What was once a small fishing village, a lively place for pleasure boating and one of West Africa’s most beautiful bays boasting white powdery sand and crystal clear water is now unrecognizable. Heaven transformed into hell. Fishermen have no choice but toil away amongst tons of garbage, raw sewage, industrial effluent and chemicals spilled directly onto the beach and into the sea.
