In Haiti, children are both victims and perpetrators of gang violence. This project documents their lives, exploring how innocence is lost in a nation on the brink of collapse. Since the assassination of President Moïse in 2021, Haiti has descended into chaos, with armed gangs now controlling nearly 90% of the capital, Port-au-Prince. At the center of this crisis are Haiti’s children. Often coerced or forced into joining armed groups, they carry weapons instead of school books. Over 1.6 million children now live in gang-controlled areas, where food is scarce, and survival is the only priority.
