On October 28, 2017, Ian Walsh scored a perfect 10 ride from what might just be the best big wave barrel in big wave surf competition history. He was crowned the champion of the WSL Pe'ahi Challenge, and later that season he was awarded the prestigious WSL XXL Ride of the Year as well as XXL Barrel of the Year.
