I've always been drawn to the natural emotions shown in the out-takes of my commercial beauty work so I decided to work with Amudat Hassan to create this series 'Joy'. As a beauty photographer, I photograph people most of the time, but rather than taking portraits, I concentrate on achieving the level of perfection that sells make-up. With this series I wanted to show the raw emotion, the un-restrained personality of the models behind the facade of digitally perfected beauty. The edit is strong, sharp and contrasty, which highlights the genuine, raw and joyful expressions of the model.
