Remember Me is a twist on the classic “vanitas” theme – the fragile and ephemeral nature of life. I’ve added portraits to the traditional still life vanitas approach, personalizing the fugitive depiction of life. But however ephemeral our lives may be, we each find meaning in personal ways. Remember Me embraces the uniqueness of people’s lives showing how they wish to be remembered. I asked Remember Me’s subjects, all of whom are friends, to bring items symbolic of these thoughts. I was rewarded with rich vignettes of people surrounded by the cherished mementos captured in this portfolio.
