CORNERED is a meditation on the idiosyncrasies of the spaces that exist overhead, specifically the intersections between walls and ceilings. A harmony between illusion and reality, convexity and concavity, occurs when the linear elements align to simultaneously push in and pull out the two dimensional plane. Void of cultural signifiers, belonging to no specific place or location, a universality of line and form reoccurs from room to room, image to image, offering a deeper assessment of the formal elements that make up the spaces we occupy and sometimes never truly see.

Biography

Born and raised in New York City, Austin Irving is a visual artist who works with large format analog photography. Irving graduated with a BFA from TISCH School Of The Arts at NYU in 2006. Her artwork has been exhibited in galleries and museums in Hong Kong, India, Germany, Paris, and across The United States. Her images have been featured in The LA Times, Wired, Slate, Architectural Digest, Art Ltd., Artillery, TimeOut NY, The International Herald Tribune, The Huffington Post, Frontrunner, Artsy, Yatzer, and Artweek LA. Irving's work is represented by Wilding Cran Gallery in Los Angeles.
