The BLACK SERIES is a collection of portraits of adopted black rescue dogs, photographed to highlight the fact that black dogs are the least likely to be adopted from a shelter, a phenomenon known as 'black dog syndrome'. Due to the fact that black dogs can look plain & aggressive as well as the fact that they are hard to photograph, people seem to choose to adopt more interesting looking animals. I created this series to raise awareness of this issue & show that black dogs are, in fact, incredibly unique looking, photograph beautifully & each have soulful and gentle characters.
