Although Iceland's Diamond Beach normally abounds in ice formations, on this particular winter morning they were harder to find due to temperatures rising unexpectedly to well above-zero levels. After one hour of scouting I came across these blocks, whose clear ice exhibited a faint blue glow when caught between the sea and the steel-colored sky. The simplicity of the scene infused by the heavy winter atmosphere ended up in what I regard as one of my best shots from the land of ice and fire.
