How do answer a child who has so many questions you cannot answer? This was the first time I had put a mask on my son. In the midst of London in Lockdown, he was confused and angry, bereft of his peers, a mixture of anxiety and denial - like most adults. We cannot know the futures ahead of us, literally leaving us all blind and with little option but to continue forward one day at a time, simply just preparing as best we can. When he lifted the mask to cover his eyes as well, I found it a pertinent and poignant allegory for how we approach the new normals.
