This photograph belongs to the project Beyond The Self(ie) which challenges the mainstream trend that depicts us as mere bodies, “perfected” through the use of digital manipulation, ready to satisfy a quick and ephemeral need for instant gratification. I choose a slow paced medium - analogue photography without Photoshop manipulation - and I portray the subject, who is a painter, overlapping an imaginary subject of her paintings. I invite the viewer to look deeper and see her beyond her physical presence, as a creative micro cosmos that leaves a mark into the world. We are what we create.
