Louisa J. Curtis I loved how there is a boldly consistent look in this series and yet we see totally different personalities portrayed by their looks and face coverings.

On 1st June 2020 it became mandatory to wear face masks on all forms of public transport in The Netherlands. Shortly hereafter I began taking portraits of my fellow passengers on the ferries operating behind central station in Amsterdam. The ferries are like 'people catchers' where passengers have a few quiet minutes before departing and carrying on with their busy day. It was the ideal setting to ask random strangers to pose for my camera. I photographed people in summer, autumn and winter exploring themes of mystery, anonymity, identity and humour.
