This image of my grandmother, Jane Russell, was made remotely on a video call during lockdown. It is unposed--she was too tired to talk. After being quarantined in her nursing home for six months because of covid-19, she stopped eating and drinking. She passed away shortly after this conversation. I developed this technique of making silver gelatin prints directly from video calls. My inspiration is to create a lasting and unique object while still embracing the digital life we've been confined to during the pandemic.
