Robert Tilley is a 73-year-old Newfoundlander. He is the best friend I have made since I came to Newfoundland 3 years ago as an international student. In 2019, Robert and I visited his hometown Elliston, where his family settled in the mid-19th century. In this photo, Robert was watching the glorious sunrise at Elliston. His ancestors must have seen the same. Robert’s home is no longer located in Elliston, but he still feels connected to this place where his home used to be. Bathed in the golden sunshine, we knew a new day has come.
