"The Hyperreal War" is a project that focuses on Susan Sontag's analysis on ‘the perennial seductiveness of war’ through the Airsoft game as well as it recalls the Jean Baudrillard's theory about war as simulacrum. Since the Gulf War, in according to the French philosopher, wars have become hyperreal and simulated not-realities where the boundaries between virtuality and reality are fade one into the another. Exploring the fascination and normalization of war through the Airsoft players, this project shows a simulated war so gathering the Baudrillard's concept of contemporary wars as staged not-events conveyed by the mass media.
