I travelled to India for just under a month to compose a portraiture series on the homeless men, women and children that dwell and congregate at Assi Ghat, Varanasi. The holy city resides on the bank of the Ganges and is of uttermost significance to the hinduism faith and rituals. Along the river, loved ones publicly cremate the bodies of the recently deceased to achieve the rites of passage. It soon became apparent that life and death has an equal force and my attention was drawn to the individuals who were simply just waiting for their turn to die.
