Water is life's most basic need
Drinking water is life’s most basic need. Yet nearly a billion people on our planet do not have access to it.
The Samburu of NW Kenya are traditionally a nomadic tribe, but the government has settled them so that they can be taxed and documented. Now with the drought, they can no longer move with their livestock to another area. Young girls carry 43 pound jerry cans on their backs to bring the minimum water needed for the family.
New wells will help ease the lives of these girls, and bring peace to their land again.

Biography
Rudi Dundas is a photographer focused on the botanical world. She photographed wild tulips in the Tien Shan Mountains for Michael Pollan’s film, BOTANY OF DESIRE among other international projects.
From 1989-1995, Rudi was co-director and owner of a non-profit gallery in Soho in NYC. A past recipient of fellowships from the NEA and the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Adobe Foundation, she served on the board of directors of Artforum magazine for 20 years and on the board of The American Photographic Artists in San Francisco for five years.
