'The professional' With his intriguing project “The professional” Matthias Valewink dares you to look beyond the obvious. As a manager and coach in a highly competitive European sales organization, Matthias travels a great deal. Since he is passionate about traveling, this sounds like a dream come true, doesn’t it? Yet life is full of interesting contrasts and contradictions: the dream versus reality, obligations versus freedom, to live or be lived, adrenaline versus peace of mind, security versus adventure, busy days versus lonely nights, thoughts versus actions. The treadmill goes on and on. “The professional” is a personal story, providing a different perspective that is relevant to everyone; it makes you stop and wonder. The story is built-up using a fascinating selection of the work that Matthias has documented within the last 2.5 years during his business trips within over 80 hotels in Europe and Asia. During these performance-orientated trips, photography became his way of releasing the noise of all the daily activity.
