One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge is the remains of a ring of standing stones set within earthworks. The stones are aligned almost perfectly with the sunrise on the summer solstice. It was constructed in several stages between 3000 and 1500 B.C., spanning the Neolithic Period to the Bronze Age. Stonehenge Summer Solstice Festival attracts tens of thousands of people each year as the site has become a place of pilgrimage and worship for Neopagans who identify themselves with the Druids or other forms of Celtic paganism.
