Michael Pritchard Engaging photography and an important story of strong women spoke to me and stood out from other submissions in the category. It left me wanting to know more.
This photographic series portrays three generations of women living on the margins of a grand hacienda in Acambay, Mexico. Chona, Josefina, and Fernanda form a resilient family, abandoned by the men in their lives. As caretakers of a vast mexican Hacienda, they’ve built a modest home at the edge of grandeur— portraying the quiet force of kinship and survival. Through daily labor and intimate moments, the images explore resilience, silence, inequality, and the enduring strength behind generational progress in Mexico.
