Founder and Artistic Director

Claudio Composti is the founder and artistic director of mc2gallery in Milan, a gallery specialized in photography and founder of the online platform Periscope Photoscouting for the discovery and enhancement of young Italian and international photographers. He is independent curator of artistic projects, in collaboration with Italian and foreign galleries and public institutions and museums, such as the Camera Museum of Photography in Torino, where he collaborated for the exhibition “Lisette Model : Street Life” (with an essay in the catalogue) or the exhibition “Cabaret Vienna. The Manassé photographic studio” (a project by Chiara Spenuso curated by Claudio Composti) at the MART Museum in Rovereto (with an essay in the catalogue).

Since 2018 he has been a consultant and art advisor for private collections and he is the art director of the gallery Plaza Project Art Room – first gallery in Italy opened in a 5 stars Hotel – Plaza et de Russie in Viareggio (LU), where he is their private art advisor for the collection of the Design Hotel. He teaches at Raffles Design Institute in Milan as Program Director for the Photography Master and he collaborates with Leica Akademie. He has participated as Folio Reviewer for several Italian photography festivals such as the European Photography in Reggio Emilia, Photolux Festival in Lucca, PhotoVogue Festival in Milan and international ones such as Les Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles, France, SIPF Singapore Photo Festival and Palm Springs Photo Festival and the Belfast Photo Festival.

He has published an essay for the book “Still Image: Art, Life and the Photography Market” edited by Maddalena Mazzocut-Mis and Chiara Spenuso (edition Mimesis). Since 2023 he is the art director of the Ragusa Photo Festival in Ibla, Sicily and art director of the Festival WhiteCarrara023, Festival of sculpture and photography in Carrara (MS), Tuscany.
