Michael Zajakowski is Director of Photography at CHICAGO magazine and a cofounder of the Prism Photo Workshop. Michael has been a photo editor, director of photography, photojournalist and photography educator for more than 30 years, including 20 years as a photo and video editor at the Chicago Tribune.
Michael also taught visual communication in the graduate journalism program at DePaul University and digital storytelling at Columbia College Chicago. He is a regular speaker at Scholastic Press Association conferences and has been a mentor to many emerging photographers and photojournalists.
He has co-curated two exhibits at Roosevelt University’s Gage Gallery; “Faith, Focus, Flight: A John H. White Retrospective,” and “Crime Then and Now: Through the Lens of the Chicago Tribune” and photo-edited two books, Chicago Portraits and Chicago Bulls: A Decade-by-Decade History.
