Phil Coomes has worked at the BBC for many years in a number of photographic roles and is currently a picture editor and photographer at the BBC News website.

As a photographer he works closely with the online team, producing stories and slideshows from around the United Kingdom and abroad. Recent years have shown locations to the Falkland Islands and Lebanon and Chernobyl.

Coomes’ role as picture editor involves pulling together photographs from a variety of sources including the wires, freelance photographers and BBC’s own staff. He also writes a photo blog viewable here:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/philcoomes.
